Hotel Units Plant Saplings, Organize Cleanliness Drives &
Encourage Guest Participation Too
Mumbai: On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th
June, 2017 Lords Hotels & Resorts celebrated the day with ‘Connecting
People to Nature’, United Nations Environment Programmme (UNEP) theme for the
year. As part of the theme, its twenty-six hotels across the country organized
various activities including planting of saplings, cleanliness drives, organizing
competition for guests and their children to create something out of waste, and
walk & cycle rallies, among others. The hotel chain not only had its
employees participate in the activities arranged for the day but also
encouraged its guests to partake in it.
About World Environment Day: An initiative of the United Nations
Environment Programme (UNEP), 5th June of each year is celebrated as
‘World Environment Day’ for everyone, everywhere. Since it began in 1972,
global citizens have organized many thousands of events, from neighbourhood
clean-ups, to action against wildlife crime, to replanting forests. The UNEP is
an agency of United Nations and coordinates its environmental activities,
assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies
and practices.
